Rooted in a bohemian spirit, Laura's dress was a unique blend of spirit & substance. Inspired by her authenticity and naturalness Laura came to me to design a gown that no one would expect her to wear.
This was her creation...

My initial meeting with Laura was really to get to know her. Get an idea of the vibe and essence she wanted to create with her wedding and essentially her gown, to ensure it is something I can create and to my aesthetic. Laura wanted embellishments, lace, a sense of simplicity and definitely an interesting back feature. She knew everyone would expect her in a simple slip dress so she wanted something unusual that would shock her husband and guests. We tried a few different styles on to see what suited her body shape and she loved the idea of frills and sheer mesh for part of the dress. It was a matter of getting the bodice right and making something incredible. I was so excited after our original meeting I found inspiration through her naturalness and free spirit. So we began to create the initial toile/first sample.

Our first fitting was implausible. I had drawn, designed and made a magnificent embroidery that we perfectly placed to the front panel of the dress. I created another piece to suit the incredible back detail. The dress fit almost perfectly. With Wedding gowns, it is all about placing the fabric onto the body in a couture arrangement so the tailoring is perfect to the body.

Once the final piece was made it was sent to be embellished. I adore working on beading the styles and finding a mixture of beads that work together to compliment the design and highlight features. Laura wanted simplicity and minimalism so with this in mind I came up with mixing 3  delicate beads to highlight her neck and back lines. There were a lot of changes and minor alterations. There were lace cut outs that had to be added and more embroidery placed into the panels to fill in the sides. So I drew up a new design and had it made urgently for the final gown. An additional frill was needed to make sure everything was sitting in the right place on the body. Once we had the final piece we handed over the gown.
 This was Laura's magical day...
